  • Lebanon man charged with murder

    Timothy R. Mays, 48, of Lebanon has been charged with first-degree murder for allegedly shooting and killing Nina Devonne Hunt, 42, of Raywick on April 5.

    He was originally charged with first-degree assault. But, after Hunt died of her injuries on April 7, his charges were amended from assault to murder in Marion Circuit Court last week.

    The case has been sent to the grand jury, and he’s being held at the Marion County Detention Center on $100 million bond.

  • Two fatalities occur in Post 15 area during March

    During the month of March 2020, there were eight traffic accidents investigated by the Kentucky State Police working in the Post 15 area in the 11 counties of Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, Marion, Metcalfe, Monroe, Russell, Taylor and Washington.
    There were two fatal collisions during the month of March in the Post 15 area.
    Joshua Thomas, 21, and Andrew Mays, 21, of Marion County were killed on March 22 in Marion County. This brings the yearly fatality count to five compared with one through this same period in 2019.

  • Man arrested for disorderly conduct

    At 8:31 p.m. on March 26, deputies with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office arrested Edward Bryan Cissell, 47, of Lebanon on charges of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and alcohol intoxication in a public place. The charges resulted from the investigation of multiple complaints of a person screaming, yelling and making threatening statements out in the roadway on Westside Drive. Deputies found Cissell standing in the roadway, took him into custody and lodged him in the Marion County Detention Center.

  • Sheriff’s office news briefs

    The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting and killing of a dog on Salt Lick Road in Raywick. According to the report, the owner of the dog heard shots near the area of their home during the overnight hours of March 27, and found their dog dead the next morning. Deputy Sheriff Tristan Hayden is investigating.

    March 6
    - An 18-year-old white male and a 17-year-old white male at Marion County High School were cited for second-degree disorderly conduct.
    - A 16-year-old white female was cited at Marion County High School for fourth-degree assault. The victim was listed as a 15-year-old white female.

    There was one fatal collision during the month of February in the Post 15 area. Scott Patten, 32, of Washington County was killed on Feb. 4 in Washington County.
    Donald L Collins, 75, of Aledo, Texas died on Feb. 10 from a collision that occurred on Jan. 31 in Washington County.

    An Elizabethtown man was indicted in Marion Circuit Court on March 2 for incest, sodomy and first-degree sex abuse.
